Minton is situated by the sea and has a generally rugged terrain. It is divided into two major sections by the large, white cliffs that it contains, which are composed of chalk and accentuated by streaks of black flint. The upper, northwest part of the town is grassy and home to many flowers and trees. It is also where most of the town's residents live. The lower, southeast part of the town comprises a small, rocky beach and a few islands. Not many buildings are situated in the town's lower areas, but a few old, unused jetties can be found extending out into the sea.
The population of Minton is 22 (excluding the player and Kyra), making it the sixth smallest settlement in Rinto, ahead of Arcove, Golune, Forhaul, Pollug and Riverside Station. Many of its residents live there because they enjoy its peaceful, relaxed atmosphere.
Minton was founded around 600 years before the events of Pokémon Sunrise and Sunset and s, and has not changed much since. In recent years, the town has gained some fame due to being the hometown of both Alex and Sunny.
Minton is the hometown of the player, and is therefore the location that the games begin. On the morning of the graduation ceremony, they wake up in their bedroom, with their mother, Helen, calling for them from downstairs. Upon travelling to the dining room, they encounter AmeliaM/CameronF who's been waiting for them for a long time. They decide to wait outside, before Helen approaches the player, giving them their school uniform. After one last goodbye, she also gives them their Bus Pass and a Cake Slice. The player then leaves the house to find AmeliaM/CameronF again, who explains that Professor Redwood is waiting on Dewdrop Trail, and the graduation ceremony has been postponed. The two of them then proceed to the Trainer Academy with Professor Redwood.
The player's third visit to Minton occurs after they have defeated Shelly in the Cashor Aquarium. Due to the fact that Route 4 has been blocked off by a landslide, and they cannot yet use Fly or Rock Smash, the player must traverse Routes 8, 9 and 10. They end up in Minton, from which they can travel to their destination, Capeta.
The player's house can be found on a raised piece of land on the east side of the town, and is where the player lives before beginning their adventure. The player's mother, Helen, also lives here. The house has two floors. The first floor is a living room and kitchen area, while the second floor hosts the player's bedroom and their mother's bedroom. The player's bedroom contains a Wii, as well as a television and a PC. It also contains some books on "Pokémon Basics".
Kyra's house is located in the southwest of the town. She is never actually met here due to the fact that she began her Pokémon journeys before the player. However, her aunt, Muriel, can be found here throughout the entire game. She rewards the player with a pearl after they complete the "Missing Granddaughter" quest, which she also initiates.
