Route 2 (Japanese: ２ばんどうろRoute 2) is a route in southeastern Rinto, connecting Aldew Town and Larchorn City. The route is also known as Thane Estuary (Japanese: セインの河口Sein Estuary). Seabreak Lighthouse is located in the northeast of the route.
Upon leaving Aldew Town, a short path takes the player north, past Lad Bart during the day, or Policeman Casper at night, to a bend leading east. North of this bend is a small patch of tall grass that the player can venture through to obtain a ???, while simply following the bend will take them through another patch of tall grass, where Lass Raylene stands during the day, to a T-junction, where Policewoman ??? stands at night. Following the junction south leads to more tall grass, followed by a u-bend where Lass Klaudia resides during the day. Following the bend and heading north again leads to small grove consisting of two patches of grass, one containing nothing and the other containing a ???. Following the T-junction north, however, takes the player past a side path, at the end of which lies Bertie's house and some patches of loamy soil. Heading north past this path leads to another bend heading east, and heading east, past where Lad Gregory resides during the day, leads to another T-junction, where Officer Jenny stands at night. Continuing east takes the player south, past two ledges, where Lad Hugh stands during the day, and back to the u-bend, while heading north takes them to a small cliff lined by fences that overlooks the sea. Heading down some steps here will take the player to a small, rocky beach.
This route shares many similarities with Route 103 in Hoenn. Both are found early on in their respective games, located north of the second town that the player visits. In addition, both of them must be visited before the player can continue their journey, and one of their rivals has a battle with them there. Lastly, by surfing later on in the game, the player can cross the route's water portion, access another land portion, and reach one of the region's largest cities.
However, unlike Route 103, which is optional after the initial visit, this route must be revisited.
